Summary

Playing Tic Tac Toe collects no personal data. The game makes no network requests: your opponent is calculated on your device, and the three settings it saves stay there. It contains no analytics, no crash-reporting service and no advertising. The one exception is Help & Support: if you choose to contact us from inside the app, the details you enter are sent to our support service so that we can reply — described in full in section 2. Nothing is sent unless you use that form. This website keeps your display preferences in your own browser. It sets no cookies and loads nothing from a third party. There are no accounts, so there is nothing to sign up for.

This policy covers three separate things, which behave differently. Each has its own section:

1. What the app collects while you play

Nothing. Playing the game collects no personal data and no usage data of any kind. The application contains no analytics library, no crash-reporting service, no advertising network and no telemetry. It never asks you for a name, an email address, a phone number or a location in order to play. The only time information leaves your device is when you deliberately send us a support request, which is covered in section 2.

Network access

The game itself makes no network requests. Your opponent is calculated on your device and your settings are stored on your device, so nothing needs contacting. That is why the game plays identically in aeroplane mode. The single exception is submitting a Help & Support request, which you have to initiate yourself.

What is stored on your device

Three preferences, saved locally so the game opens the way you left it:

Nothing else is written. Scores are counted for the round series you are currently playing and cleared when you leave the match. They are never saved.

Permissions

The application requests no runtime permissions: no storage, no camera, no microphone, no location, no contacts, no phone state. It also explicitly blocks the media-playback foreground-service permission that it would otherwise inherit from its audio library, having no need to play audio in the background.

If you attach a screenshot to a support request, your device's own picker opens and the app receives only the single image you pick. It cannot browse your photo library, and it never takes a screenshot by itself.

Purchases, ads and notifications

The application contains no billing code and no in-app purchases, so it never handles payment information. It shows no advertising. It sends no notifications, and contains no notification permission or scheduling code.

What Google Play does independently

Google Play itself records installs, uninstalls and, on supported devices, crash and performance data for every Android application, this one included. That happens at the platform level. It is not something this application requests, receives or can switch off, and it is governed by Google's privacy policy , not by this one.

2. Help & Support requests

The app includes a Help & Support form for support requests, feature suggestions, bug reports, general feedback and other enquiries. Using it is entirely voluntary — it is the only part of the app that sends anything anywhere. If you never open it, nothing described in this section applies to you.

What you provide

When you send a support request, we receive what you put in the form:

Your email address and name are used for support correspondence only. Neither is requested at any other point in the app, and there is no mailing list to be added to.

The optional screenshot

You may attach a single image — JPEG, PNG or WebP — to help us see the problem. It is optional, and a request without one is perfectly fine. You choose the image yourself from your own device; the app never captures your screen on its own. Because we receive the picture as you selected it, please check it before sending, as anything visible in it will be visible to us too.

Technical details sent with your request

So that we can reproduce a problem rather than guess at it, a support request also includes a small amount of technical information about the app and the device it is running on:

That is the whole list. In particular it does not include your IMEI, your device serial number, a MAC address, an advertising identifier, your phone number, your contacts, your precise location or a list of your installed apps. The app does not collect any of those at any time.

The installation identifier

A randomly generated installation identifier may be included with support requests to help prevent abuse and manage request limits. It is created at random on your device, kept there, and reused if you write to us again so that a follow-up can be tied to an earlier message. It is not an advertising identifier, not your IMEI and not your device serial number, and it is not designed to identify you personally. It is removed when you uninstall the app.

What we do with it

3. Data retention and deletion

Your settings and your gameplay stay on your own device, and uninstalling the app removes them immediately and completely. Information you send through Help & Support is different: because it has already been transmitted to us, uninstalling does not withdraw it, and you can ask us to delete it.

On your device

The three settings above live only on your own device, for as long as the app is installed, along with the installation identifier described in section 2. Uninstalling removes all of them. You can also clear them without uninstalling, through your device's Settings → Apps → Tic Tac Toe → Storage → Clear data. The game then starts again from its defaults.

Support requests

Information submitted through Help & Support may be retained for as long as is reasonably necessary to respond to your request, investigate the issue, prevent abuse, meet any applicable obligations and keep necessary support records. No fixed period is promised here, because a bug report may need to stay open longer than a one-line question.

Uninstalling the app removes locally stored app data, but it does not automatically remove support requests you have already sent. If you would like us to delete a support request and the information that came with it, write to support@syedshahbazhussain.com from the address you used, and we will remove it unless we are required to keep it.

4. This website

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own. In the default configuration nothing needs consenting to, which is why you see no cookie banner.

Local storage

Your colour theme is saved in your browser's local storage under the key tictactoe:web-theme, so the site opens in the theme you chose. This value never leaves your browser. Clearing your browsing data for this site removes it, and the site works normally without it. You simply get the theme your operating system prefers.

Server logs

This site is a set of static files served by a hosting provider. Like essentially every web server, that provider records standard request logs (IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent) for delivery and security purposes. We do not control the retention period of those logs and do not use them to build any profile of you.

Analytics

This site runs no analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising and no third-party scripts. Every font, image, sound and script is served from this site's own domain, so loading a page does not tell any other company that you were here.

5. The browser game

The game at /play/ runs entirely in your browser. Your moves are never transmitted anywhere. The opponent is calculated locally, using the same code that ships inside the Android application.

What it stores

One entry in your browser's local storage, under the key tictactoe:web-prefs, holding:

It is stored so a refresh does not lose your game. It is not transmitted, not readable by us, and not shared with anyone. Clearing site data removes it, and the game still works without it, simply starting from the defaults each visit.

Device features

Where your browser supports it, the game asks the device to vibrate briefly when you place a mark. That is a one-way instruction to the hardware. No data is read from your device and nothing is sent anywhere. It can be switched off in the game's own controls.

6. Children's privacy

Tic Tac Toe is suitable for all ages and is rated Rated for 3+ on Google Play. Playing it collects no personal information from anyone, and therefore none from children. There are no accounts, no chat, no social features, no advertising and no in-app purchases. The only way to send us anything is the Help & Support form, which nobody has to use.

The application follows the Google Play Families Policy. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If a child has sent us a support request, or you believe a child has provided personal data through this application, contact us using the details in section 11 and we will delete it.

7. Data security

The strongest available security measure is not holding data in the first place, and that is the approach taken for everything except support. Your settings and scores stay on your own device, protected by its storage sandbox, and are never transmitted.

Support requests are transmitted using HTTPS, and this website is served over HTTPS. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect the information you submit through the support feature. No method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so absolute security cannot be promised — which is also a reason the app asks for as little as it does.

8. Data shared with third parties

We do not sell personal information, and nothing you do while playing is shared with anyone. No gameplay data, and nothing from this website or the browser game, is sent to any third party.

Information you submit through Help & Support may be processed by service providers that support the operation, hosting, delivery, security or maintenance of the support service, where that is necessary to receive your message and reply to it. They act on our behalf for that purpose. Support content is not shared with advertising networks, not used to build a profile of you, and not passed to anyone else.

Pages on this site link to the Google Play Store so you can install the app. Once you follow that link Google's own privacy policy applies. We have no involvement in and no visibility of what happens there.

9. Your rights

Data protection law, including the GDPR and the UK GDPR, gives you rights to access, correct, export and erase personal data held about you. If you have never contacted support, we hold nothing about you, so there is nothing to access, correct, export or erase.

If you have sent a support request, you can ask us for a copy of it, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, using the contact details in section 11. Everything else described in this policy sits on your own device and can be removed at any time by clearing the app's storage, uninstalling the app, or clearing site data in your browser — no request to us is required for any of that.

Should you want written confirmation of what is or is not held about you, ask and we will provide it.

10. Changes to this policy

If the application or this website begins handling data differently, this page will be updated before the change is released, and the effective date at the top will change with it. Material changes will also be reflected in the Data safety section of the Google Play listing.
