Reporting a problem
Please include these six things. It usually turns a week of back-and-forth into a single reply.
- Where it happened. The Android app, or the game on this website?
- Your device and OS version for the app, or your browser and version for the website.
- The app version. The current release is
1.0.0. On Android you can confirm yours under Settings → Apps → Tic Tac Toe → App details. - The mode and difficulty you were playing.
- What you expected, and what happened instead.
- How to make it happen again, if you can work it out. Even a rough sequence of moves helps enormously.
Please do not send screenshots containing anything personal. Nothing about this game requires an account, a name or any personal detail, so a bug report should never need one.
Common questions and fixes
There is no sound during a game
Open Settings and check the Sound switch first, then your device volume and the silent-mode switch. In the browser game, most browsers block audio until you have interacted with the page, so the very first tap of a session can be silent. The next one will not be.
The app does not vibrate when I place a mark
Check the Haptics switch in Settings, then your device-wide vibration setting, which some battery savers disable. In the browser game, vibration only works where the browser supports it. In practice that means Android; iOS Safari has no vibration API, so the control is hidden there.
My theme choice keeps resetting
The app saves your theme on the device. If it resets on every launch, something is clearing that storage. Check whether a battery or storage optimiser is restricting the app. On this website the theme lives in browser storage, so private windows and "clear site data" both reset it.
My score went back to zero
In the Android app this is expected: the scoreboard counts the round series you are currently playing and clears when you leave the match. It is a running tally, not saved statistics. On this website the score is kept in your browser, so it survives a refresh but not clearing site data.
I cannot beat the Hard opponent
Nobody can. That is the design. Hard evaluates every possible continuation before it moves, so it never makes a mistake, and tic tac toe is a solved game: against perfect play a draw is the best result available to anyone. Switch to Medium if you want a winnable opponent.
The difficulty resets to Medium
In the Android app, yes. The difficulty selector starts on Medium each time you open a match and is not remembered between them. On this website the choice is saved in your browser and restored the next time you visit.
The board will not accept my tap
Two cases are deliberate: squares that already hold a mark are rejected, and the board is locked while the computer is deciding its reply, which takes about 400 milliseconds. In both cases the board shakes to tell you the tap was ignored. Once the round is over, all squares stop responding until you start a new one.
